The Juror for 2024 is Kim Conaty, Curator of Drawings & Prints, the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC.
Kim Conaty is the Steven and Ann Ames Curator of Drawings and Prints at the Whitney Museum of American Art. In addition to overseeing the management and growth of the Whitney’s collection of drawings and prints, she has organized several exhibitions there, including Ruth Asawa Through Line (2023); Edward Hopper’s New York (2022); Nothing Is So Humble: Prints from Everyday Objects (2020), and Mary Corse: A Survey in Light (2018). Prior to the Whitney, Conaty was Curator at the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University and Assistant Curator at The Museum of Modern Art, New York. The recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship and Clark Fellowship, Conaty holds a Ph.D. in the History of Art from the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, and a Master’s degree from Williams College.

"Works on Paper" 2024 is the 26th Annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Works on Paper can include but is not limited to Drawing, Painting on Paper, hand pulled Prints, Photographic Prints, Digital Works on Paper, and Paper constructions that can be wall hung. The Juror will select 65 artworks to be on display in our spacious Gallery.

LEGAL AGREEMENT:
Submission to NJC 2024: Works on Paper constitutes an agreement with all conditions of this show. The artist allows the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences the right to photograph accepted work for publicity purposes, use artist's name and bio, and images of artist and their work for publicity purposes in print, on the web and digitally. Artists 18 years and older, residing in the continental USA, are eligible. Entries must not have been previously exhibited at LBIF. The fee to apply is $35.00 for up to 3 entries is non-refundable. Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences reserves the right to reject any work not resembling the submitted entry or work that is not ready to be shown according to the aforementioned specifications.

The 26th annual exhibition, National Juried Competition "Works on Paper" 2024 at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences welcomes entries of original work, created within the last two years, which explore the varied media which utilize Paper. The Competition and Exhibition is open to emerging as well as established artists working in the continental US. Works on Paper can include, but are not limited to drawing, painting on paper, hand-pulled prints, photographic prints, digitally created artwork displayed as prints, and paper constructions which may be wall hung.
Three cash Prizes and three Honorable Mentions will be awarded by the Juror. Artists do not have to be present to receive their awards. A printed catalog of selected artwork is planned to accompany the Gallery exhibition.

Artists 18 years and older, residing in the continental USA, are eligible. Works on Paper can include, but are not limited to: drawing, painting on paper, hand-pulled prints, photography, digitally created artwork displayed as prints, photographic prints, and paper construction that are wall hung.
Entries must have been created within the last two years and not been previously shown at LBIF.
Two-dimensional works should not exceed 60 inches in width and 60 inches in height, and not exceed 10lbs. Work may not project in the third dimension beyond 18 inches. Larger size work is encouraged and allowed.
The artist must provide return prepaid postage or pre-paid return shipping label for work and packaging or arrange for drop off and pick-up.
Please do not submit work that has a retail value over $7,500. Submitted work must be available for the duration of the exhibition. ALL WORKS MUST BE FOR SALE.
The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences will retain a 40% commission of the purchase price on all works sold during the exhibition. If any artwork is commissioned from this exhibition, the LBIF will retain 40% of the commissioned price.
Should you be accepted to the Works on Paper Exhibition, your work will appear online for sale in the "gallery store" section of the lbifoundation.org website for the duration of the exhibition.
Work submitted must be suitably framed, firmly wired, prepared for hanging, and professionally presented. No saw-tooth hangers; no sandwich frames. Frames for artwork must be in a black, white, or a natural wood frame. All paper must be displayed framed and protected under acrylic (Plexiglas); no glass. 3-D work will be considered, but should be wall mounted, or able to be displayed on a 10” deep wall mounted shelf.
Please do not submit three-dimensional works in the round that require pedestals.
Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences reserves the right to exclude from the exhibition any works that do not arrive in sturdy condition or are deemed too fragile to be successfully exhibited. Work that has not been suitably prepared will be hung at LBIF's discretion.
Please only submit work that will be available at the time of the exhibition and will remain for its entirety. No accepted entry may be withdrawn prior to the close of the exhibition. No pricing changes will be allowed after acceptance.
Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible. Entries must not have been previously exhibited at LBIF. If the work does not fully reflect what is represented in the submitted images, Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences reserves the right to exclude it from the exhibition.
ARTIST STATEMENT, BIO, or RESUME: Please include in your application a 1-2 page document of either an Artist Statement, your Bio, or a professional Resume.
NOTIFICATION: Accepted entries will be notified by email and posted on the LBIF website.
If you do not receive your notification by the notification date, please contact exhibitions@lbifoundation.org
CATALOG: We plan to publish a printed catalog and include from the submitted entry information: Image of artwork, artist's brief description about the work, date, materials, social media and/or website info.
DELIVERY of accepted artwork: Shipping/Delivery instructions will accompany email notification of acceptance. Shipping to LBIF is the responsibility of the artist and must be sent with a pre-paid return shipping label or shippers’ UPS or FEDEX account number to charge to artists’ account.
LIABILITY: Works will be insured for the duration of the exhibition from time of arrival at the LBIF until return shipment to the extent of 60% of the artist’s stated retail value. Artists are encouraged to have their own insurance.
